MEN’S GOLF CHAMPION HONOUR WON BY B. McMASTER. (“Times-Age” Special.) By defeating A. H. Warren, for many years club champion, by 4 and 3, B. McMaster annexed the championship of the club for the third year in succession. The winner, who. has consistently played excellent golf during the season, thoroughly deserved his win and without decrying the merit of McMaster’s win and in fairness to Warren, the latter has not particularly taken an active part in the game. Although they both played excellently, each doing 37 on the journej' out —it was evident that consistency would prove the turning point and which did happen. At the end of the first round McMaster was 1 up and playing faultlessly. He soon increased his advantage by winning the three next in par figures. The next two holes were halved, the game ending at the 15th. The results of the various competitions held during the season were as follow: —Senior championship cup, B. McMaster; runner-up, A. H. Warren. Junior championship (Sutherland Cup), G. Hall; runner-up, J. Carter. Ladies’ championship (Tuhitarata Cup), Mrs Gordon Sutherland; runnerup, Mrs Bragg. Wm. Hume Memorial Cup, M. Waiwera; Campbell Cup, K. Waiwera; Sinclair Thompson Memorial Cup. J. Riwai; Mollie Hume Memorial Cup, Mrs Herangi; Doughty Memorial Cup, B. McMaster and G. Munro tied and will play off on the closing day. Ladies’ eclectic competition, Mrs Carter. Church Service. The Rev. Mr Ball conducted a Church of England- service in the Tuhitarata School on Sunday afternoon. There was a good attendance. Poor Season for Opossums. Opossum trappers who were operating in this district report a poor season, mainly due to the fact that the weather conditions were for the most part very unfavourable. Lambing Season. The manager of a local station reports a very successful lambing season. The percentage of ewes with triplets was considerably higher than usual. Docking operations have commenced on some of the stations in this locality.
