MARTINBOROUGH
QUEEN CARNIVAL BADMINTON DISPLAY. (“Times-Age” Special.) A further function in aid of the Green Queen in the Centennial Public Swimming Baths Queen Carnival was held by the Badminton Club last evening when exhibition games were played. A singles was played between Messrs G. Simpson and P. Martin, a combined doubles game between Mrs Turner and C. Gain and Miss Lenz and E. McAlpine. A burlesque doubles between Miss Arty Beveridge and P. Martin and Miss Teddy Evans and G. Simpson caused i great deal of amusement. During an interval a treasure hunt took place and Miss Margery Mason was the winner. The funds of the Green Queen (Miss Joyce Grant) benefited greatly by the effort.
RADIO CLUB
OPERATIONS TO CONTINUE.
At the committee meeting of the local Radio Club held last evening it was decided to continue with the club until advice was received from the New Zealand Headquarters as to what action the latter were taking owing to the cancelling of all amateur transmitting licences in New Zealand.
It was also decided to hold a social next Monday in the Club Room in aid of the Swimming Baths Queen Carnival. The funds are to go to the Green Queen. ■
