In recognition of their long service in the Legislative Council, Sir Walter Carncross. who recently retired from the office of Speaker, and the Hon J. A. Hanan, who did not seek re-election as chairman of committee, were presented with engraved silver-mounted ink-stands by their fellow councillors yesterday. The Speaker, the Hon M. Fagan, said that tributes to their two colleagues had already been paid, but it was also the general wish that their work should oe recognised in tangible form.
