FEATHERSTON
WATER SUPPLY AUXILIARY SCHEME ADOPTED. (“Times-Age” Special.) A special meeting of the Featherston Borough Council was held on Tuesday evening. There were present, the Mayor (Mr. J. W. Card), Councillors J. S. Viles, W. Johnson, R. F. Watson, C. R. Skipage, M. B. Tait, C. C. Kenward, B. B. Donald and T. G. Hardie. An apology for absence was received from Councillor H. W. Cundy. The meeting was called to consider proposals for an auxiliary water supply. It was decided to instruct the engineer to call tenders and to proceed with the work.. After the meeting, the Mayor and councillors were invited to the residence of Mr. Bruce Donald, where the health of Mr. and Mrs. Donald was toasted. On behalf of the councillors, the Mayor presented Councillor Donald with a silver salver suitably inscribed, in honour of his recent marriage. GOLF CHALLENGE CUP FINAL. The final round for the Challenge Cup was played at Gumgrove on Wednesday afternoon, the result being: Mrs. Lovegrove 1, Mrs. McCarthy 2, Mrs. Batchelor 3. The cup has been won by Mrs. Lovegrove with Mrs. Benton runner-up. Euchre Tourney. There was a good attendance at the Scout euchre tournament in the Oddfellows' Hall on Tuesday night. The prize-winners were: Ladies, Miss Nix 1, Mis Lyford 2; men. Mrs. Simmonds 1, Mrs. Saunders 2. Personal. Miss Joyce Hatton and Miss M. Clarkson, of Wellington Training College, are spending a holiday in Featherston.
