There as few signs of crisis in the London streets, which, apart from white lines painted on the kerb stones in case of blackouts, are no different from normal. The West End is filled with the usual crowds, laughing and talking as though war were unthinkable. as. in the opinion of the ordinary man or woman, it is. Seaside resorts, cinemas and theatres are fully patronised. In this respect there is a difference from last year’s crisis.'when they might as well have been closed.
