MIRAMAR BEAT FEATHERSTON
CONTEST IN WELLINGTON

A team from the Wairarapa Golf Club visited Wellington yesterday and played a match with the Miramar Club, which won by 9 games to 6, with three games halved. Wairarapa won the fourballs by 3 games to 2. with one game halved, and Miramar prevailed in the singles by 7 games to 3. with two games halved. Following are the results, the Wairarapa players being mentioned first in every case:—
Fourballs: Cameron and Rowles beat Dykes and Aplin, 2 and 1; Wilson and Fountain beat Richmond and Marsden. 7 and 6; O’Neale and Bloxham lost to W. Parkin and Parsloe, 2 and 1; Davis and Lawson lost to H. Parkin and Brooking, 5 and 3; Pope and McWilliam and Stephens and Buxton, all square; Allen and Lawrence beat Sandham and Jacques, 3 and 2. Singles: Rowles lost to Aplin, 3 and 2; Cameron lost to Dykes, 5 and 4; O’Neale lost to Parsloe, 6 and 5; Bloxham beat W. Parkin, 3 and 2; Davis lost to H. Parkin, 3 and 2; Lawson and Brooking, all square; Allen and Sandham, all square; Lawrence lost to Jacques, 3 and 2; Wilson beat Richmond, 1 up; Fountain lost to Marsden, 3 and 1; McWilliam lost to Buxton. 4 and 3; Pope beat Stephens, 1 up. FEATHERSTON CLUB. MEDAL COMPETITION. The following were the best cards handed in for the fourth round of the medal competition, held on Saturday: —J. Hearfield, 84, 17, 67; D. HOCKEY CLUB DANCE ANOTHER ENJOYABLE GATHERING. The Hockey Club dance held on Saturday night in the Anzac Hall, drew its usual good attendance and was a very popular gathering. The Monte Carlo was won by Mr Woods and Mrs Rasmussen and the Lucky Spot by Mr T. Reed and Miss Paddy Nix. OBITUARY MR JOHN DONALD. The death occurred in the Wellington Hospital yesterday of Mr John Donald, well known in the Featherston district, at the age of 75 years. The funeral will take place in Wellington tomorrow, leaving the Chapel of E. Morris Junr., Ltd., at the conclusion of service commencing at 12.30 p.m. for the Crematorium, Karori. Personal Items. Miss Norma Ritchie, Lower Hutt, was a weekend visitor to Featherston. Mr and Mrs A. S. Kilsby are visiting Wellington for the holidays. Miss Nancy Carlyon, of Whakatane. is expected to arrive today to spend a week with her parents. Mr H. M. Cherry has found it necessary to enter the Grey town Hospital for treatment. Mrs Fuge Senr.. who is a patient in the Kelvin Hospital, is reported to bi making satisfactory progress towards recovery. Football Match. A match played on Sunday between teams from Oriental-Miramar (combined) and Cross Creek-1* eathei ston (combined) was won by the lattei b} 23 points to 3. There was a large attendance of the public. Mr Ned Perrj was the referee.
