MEW OFFENCE WITHIN THREE DAYS. TWO MEN SENT TO GAOL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. ■Within three days of being admitted to probation for theft at Taumarunui. two men —George Keith Jurgens, aged 21, and Frank James Stevenson, aged 25 —converted a car at Wanganui and travelled through the country, committing a theft of a drum and four gallons of benzine at Woodville. They were arrested and charged at Wellington with the conversion and theft. The magistrate remarked on the abuse of the leniency extended to them and said they would not got away with it. He sentenced them to three months’ imprisonment with hard labour on each charge, the sentences to be cumulative.
