INTER-CLUB GOLF MATCH AT TYNESIDE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The local golfers played an interclub match with the Tyneside Club during the weekend at Tyneside, and on this occasion were defeated by the home side by 18 games to 15, three games being halved. On Saturday afternoon next the first qualifying round for the 1939 championships will be played and the second round will be decided the following Saturday. Any player who cannot compete on the specified days must notify the club captain and arrange io play the round during the week of the playing day. The following is the draw: —■ Ladies: Mrs A. McGregor and Miss M. McGregor; Mrs Schofield and Mrs McKinstry; Miss Vennell and Mrs Read; Miss M. Taylor and Miss Dickason; Miss Bannister and Miss Laing; Miss N. Taylor and Mrs I. McGregor; Mrs Foreman and Mrs J. Bannister; Mrs Nitz and Mrs Kummer; Miss Buckeridge and Mrs Gauld: and Miss Schofield and scorer.

Men: I. McGregor and N. Foreman; W. Kummer v J. Bannister; N. Kummer v H. Paku; S. Gray v E. Nitz; M. Paku v P. Kummer: R. Vennell v J. Gould; F. McKintry v F. Cotter; R. McKinstry v N. Atkinson: A.'McGregor v R. Bannister. I. McGregor and N. Foreman also 'play a Nimmo Cup challenge.

Mrs A. McGregor and Miss McGregor play a Kummerstein Cup match.

During the week Mrs Foreman and A. McGregor withstood a challenge for the silver buttons from Mrs P. Kummer and N. Kummer, the game being all square. The next challenge for the silver buttons is from Mrs Read and P. Kummer and will be played during the week. Women’s Division Dance. The Women's Division dance which was postponed from the original date, owing to the heavy falls of snow at that time will now be held in the hall an Saturday. August 26. There will be novelty dances and competitions during the evening. Bachelors' Ball. The annual Bachelors' Ball was held in Saturday evening and despite counter attractions a very enjoyable evening was spent by all. The attendance was not as large, perhaps, as on pre'fious occasions. The music was supplied by McKay’s Orchestra and the supper arrangements were a feature of the evening. The next ball of the season to be held in the hall will be the annual golf ball which is scheduled for September 9. Barnes's Orchestra has been engaged to supply the music.
