GOLF CLUB BALL GAY AND COLOURFUL SCENE. (“Times-Age” Special.) In spite of heavy rain there was a very large crowd present on Thursday night at the Haumua Golf Club's annual ball. Contingents from all the other surrounding clubs were present and dancing went with a swing from beginning to end. Udy's orchestra played the dance music. Dances of older and most modern stylos were alternated. The scene was gay and colourful. the club's colours of blue and gold being lavishly used in decorating ceiling and walls, while papo” golf clubs appropriately symbolised Ihe function’s hosthood, which was ■’m l her defined in large black and white letters. The supper was home-made m.d provided by the lady members of the club, was bountiful and appetising, savouries satisfying appetites keened bj' the cold and exercise. Ekctahuna’s contingent to the dance was very large and all enjoyed the evening immensely. EUCHRE TOURNEY WIN FOR ODD FELLOWS. The final night of the annual Euchre Tournament between the three Lodges —Odd Fellows, Druids and Foresters — and the Fire Brigade eventuated on Friday night in the Foresters’ Hall and another very enjoyable evening was spent by all present. The Odd Fellows’ met the Foresters and were successful in winning by 11 games to nine, this giving them a twopoint lead over the runners-up, the Druids. The Odd Fellows are thus the winners of the Card Challenge Cup for 1939.

After the. cards a social hour, was indulged in. Under the Chairmanship of Bro N. Jensen, a lengthy toast list was disposed of. this being interspersed with popular songs and items by various members.
