FEATHERSTON
WOMEN’S DIVISION BUSINESS AT MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age” .Special.) The monthly mooting of the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union. Featherston branch, was held in the Parish Hall on Friday afternoon. Mrs Wakely (president) presided over a good attendance. Mr Seivwright, a representative of the Institute for the Blind (Auckland) was the speaker and his address was listened to with great interest. The' Institute band (consisting of 24 members) will visit Featherston in October and the Division has undertaken to provide billetting and entertainment during their visit.
There was a fair display of flowers the winners being:—Bulbs: Mrs C. Rea I. Mrs Goodrich 2. Cut blooms: Mrs C. Rea 1. Mrs Goodrich 2. Flowering shrubs; Mrs C. Rea 1 and 2. The tea hostesses were Mesdames Holland and Rea. GOLF STABLEFORD COMPETITION. The fourth round for the Stableford competition played by members of the Featherston Golf Club resulted as follows:—H. Lovegrove 20-18-38: J. Hearlield 21-14-35; A. Hoby 21-13-34; D. Carlyon 18-13-31; H. Bloxam 20-10-30; J. Davis 17-13-30: G. O’Neale 24-5-29: H. McCarty 16-12-28. The fourth round of the medal competition will be held next Saturday. National Party. A well attended meeting of the National Party was hold in the Anzac Hall on Friday night. Mrs D. H. S. Riddiford was, in the chair. Mr H. G. Curran, of Wellington, was the speaker. He was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Euchre Evening. An euchre evening was held at (he home of Mrs Saunders on Saturday in aid of equipment for the local scouts for the jamboree. The prize winners were; Ladies. Mrs Farrier 1. Mrs F. O’Neale 2. Men, Mr A. D. Johnston 1. Mr Ashworth 2. The guessing competition was won by Mr J. W. Fellingham.
Football. On Saturday afternoon the Featherston juniors played Opaki on the local ground. After a fast clean game played before a large number of spectators Featherston won by 6 to 3. Mr Russell was the referee. Personal. Mr and Mrs R. G. McKenzie. Ballance. and Mr and Mrs J. A. Card. Masterton. were weekend visitors to Mr and Miss Card, “Awahou." Mrs W. J. Crawford, Hastings, is visiting Mrs W. R. Crawford. Hayward Street.
