CARIBOU SETS OUT
ATLANTIC AIR MAIL FLIGHT INAUGURATION OF BRITISH SERVICE. THIRTY-FOUR HOUR TRIP EXPECTED. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. LONDON, August 6. The Imperial Airways flying-boat Caribou last night left Southampton for New York, inaugurating the British trans-Atlantic mail service. The Caribou carries 30,000 letters., and., is., expected to cover 3500 miles in 34 hours, including the stops. After taking off the Caribou took in an additional 840 gallons of petrol from a tanker plane while in flight. Later in the evening Captain KellyRogers, who is commanding the Caribou broadcast a short talk from over the Atlantic. The flying-boat is due in New York tonight at midnight.
