The Imperial Airways flying-boat Caribou last night left Southampton for New York, inaugurating the British trans-Atlantic mail service. After taking off the Caribou took in an additional 840 gallons of petrol from a tanker plane while in flight. Later in the evening Captain KellyRogers, who is commanding the Caribou broadcast a short talk from over the Atlantic. The flying-boat is due in New York tonight at midnight.
