ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS
MANCHESTER UNITY. MEETING OF MASTERTON LODGE. At the fortnightly meeting of Loyal Masterton Lodge Bro. E. J. Mooney P.G., presided over an excellent a: tendance of members. One friend was balloted for, accepted and initiated a member of the lodg. and order. Two friends were also proposed for membership. P.G.M. Bro. Quigley wrote conveying the grateful thanks of members of Loyal Dannevirke Lodge for the very pleasant time given them recently in Masterton. He wished Loyal Masterton Lodge continued success and prosperity.
An invitation was also received and accepted for members to be present a; a dance in the Odd Fellows’ Hall, Dannevirke, on the night of Wednesday, August 2. A number of members intimated their intention of making the visit.
Correspondence from members residing in other localities and from Sister Lodges was read and received. Accounts for death benefit, sick pay. hospital treatment and general, amounting to £55 9s 7d were passed for payment. Sick visitors reported that members laid aside with illness were progressing most favourably. P.G. Bro, R. C. Baikie reported on a most successful annual meeting of Loyal Wairarapa Past Grands’ Lodge. The social secretary of the lodge, P.G. Bro. W. A. Palmer, presented :■ report and balance sheet in connection with the dance held recently which proved to be highly successful both socially and financially. Ero. F H„ Wright moved the adoption of a recommendation from the finance committee relative to shares of United Friendly Societies Dispensarj held in the name of the lodge being converted into debentures. The motion was seconded by Bro, C. Sutherland and carried unanimously. A letter was received from the secretary of the Orange Hall committee inviting lodge members to be presen at their dances which arc to be held fortnightly. P.G. Bro. J. Harris moved' and Sister L. Rickards seconded tha a letter of thanks be forwarded to the committee for their kind invitation The motion was carried. After the lodge meeting member: spent a very pleasant time in a friendly two rink game of indoor bowls witl members of the Foresters' Lodge, the contest ended in a draw. The sisters oi the lodge were accorded a hearty vote of thanks for providing supper.
