SOUTH FEATHERSTON
MINIATURE RIFLES HARDIE CUP CONTEST . (“Times-Age” Special.) The South Featherston Miniature Rifles Club will hold a shoot for the Hardie Cup on Saturday, August 5. The competition consists of three matches of ten shots each, with handicaps, the competitor securing the highest aggregate score being the Hardie Cup winner. There are also cash prizes for each match and championship prizes. Shooting will commence at 1 p.m., and will be continued in the evening. Members and ex-members of the club will take part and if everything turns out successfully it is hoped to hold the fixture annually. The local club- wishes to extend its congratulations to Masterton on winning both the interclub shields and the Pragnell Shield. The South Featherston team has had to lower its colours to superior marksmanship. The South Featherston members performed only moderately in the New Zealand Miniature Rifle Championships. Mr C. Bain scored the only 100 while J. Bain and M. Hodder scored 99 each. QUEEN CARNIVAL ENJOYABLE EUCHRE PARTY. At an enjoyable Euchre party held in -aid of Miss O. Harvey, the Kahutara Queen, in connection with the Blue and Gold carnival, the prizes were won as follow: —Lad ids Mrs Lowell. 1; Mrs Edwards 2. Men: Mr Rendle,' 1; Mrs W. Willis, 2. Dairy Cattle in Good Condition. Despite the rough weather which prevailed throughout July, local dairy cattle have returned to the farms from grazing paddocks in very good condition.
