After a keen struggle throughout the season a dramatic stage has been reached in the contest for the Sydney jockey premiership. The three leading riders. E. McMenamin, M. McCarten, and the apprentice W. Lappin, were almost level at the end of yesterday’s Wyong races at which Lappin rode three winners. The totals now are McMenamin 83 wins and three deadheats. McCarten 83 wins and two deadheats Lappin 82 wins and four deadheats. Two race meetings are to be held before the end of the season. McMenamin’s is a fine performance as he was out of the saddle for four months through an accident, illness and a suspension.
