HARRIER ACTIVITIES

MASTERTON CLUB JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP. EASY WIN FOR GREENLEES. The Masterton Harrier Club on Saturday afternoon held the annual junior championship race over 3-J miles. Mr J. J. Hunter sent away four starters over a trail comprising one lap of the championship course. From the start. P. Greenlees and L. Reynolds set a fast pace, and were soon ahead of the rest of the field. Running together until Lansdowne school, was passed. Greenlees went to the front to hold the lead and win by about 200 yards, from Reynolds. Greenlees ran a well-timed race and shows considerable promise. The placing were: P. Greenlees 1; L. Reynolds 2; C. Orr 3; D. Cairns 4. The remainder of the club held a training run. The following have been selected to represent the club at the Provincial Championships at Silverstream on Saturday next: A team: Messrs W. A. C. Pullar (captain), G. Gregory, R. N. Shaw, W. M. Sellar, H. W. Carle. B team: A. Andrew, C. J. Carle. P. Greenlees, L. Reynolds, C. Orr. Training nights will be from Monday to Wednesday at 5 o’clock at the Park Oval.

Messrs C. K. Long and W. A. C. Pullar visited the course yesterday and state that the course is heavily waterlogged and is a very hazardous one. The course was marked out yesterday and contains two water races, about 25 feet wide, and waist deep. Mud makes the track very difficult without spikes. The B event will commence at 2.30 o'clock, and the A event at 3. Mr D. Leslie, the official starter, has received orders to start the race sharp on time. Mr R. Spence has replaced Mr C. Willis as sole selector for the A team representing the Wellington Province in the inter-Provincial contest at Havelock North.
