SOLDIERS’ HOSTEL
ANNUAL REPORT FOR PAST YEAR. The twenty-first annual report of the Wairarapa Soldiers’ Hostel, to be presented to the general meeting on Thursday, July 27, states:— “Membershop.—During the year nine new members have been elected and four resignations received. Two y.ery active members of the committee, Messrs L. E. Smith and L. Pearson, left the district, their departure being a decided loss to the club. “Finance. —The balance sheet shows that, without the late A. P. Whatman’s legacy, the interest from which amounted to four quarterly payments of £7O. our club would not have lasted long. Excess income over expenditura amounts to £69 2s 6d, but it will be noticed that repairs and renewals, not charged to income and expenditure ac ■ count, cost £B6 16s. The custodian’s, quarters have been papered and painted where most necessary, two billiard' tables re-covered and new billiard balls for. all tables, provided. % “Club revenue.—Revenue from bil- • liards shows an increase of £27 ,while the cards revenue shows a decrease of over £l2. Keen interest is being shown by members in the Whatman Cup con ■ test. “Custodian—Our custodian for the past ten years, Mr G. Killington, resigned in' March. All members regretted the loss of his services and courtesy to the club, this being expressed at the send-off to both Mr and Mrs Killington. Mr W. O. Watt was appointed custodian and is filling the position capably and courteously.' The report is signed by Mr P. G. Ramsay, president.
