TE WHARAU
GOLF MATCH WIN FOR LOCAL TEAM. ("Times-Age” Special.) A return match between the Te Wharau and Hinakura clubs was played on the local links on Saturday in perfect weather and resulted in a win for the home side by 13 games to 8, three games being halved. In the ladies' fourball Te Wharau won one game and one game was all square. Te Wharau won five games, in the men’s fourball and lost one game. In the ladies' singles Te Wharau won all four games and in the men’s singles Te Wharau won three games, lost seven games and two games were halved. The following are the results, ' the visitors names being mentioned first on each occasion:— Ladies’ fourball: Mrs Charles and Miss E. Sutherland lost to. Mrs Nitz and Mrs Foreman; and Miss B. Slither land and Mrs Schofield -halved with Miss P. Schofield and Mrs A. McGregor.
Men’s fourball: J. Pike and I. Charles lost to H. Paku and E. Nitz; L. Seivers and R. Cundy lost to M. Paku and I. McGregor; W. Cameron and A. Sutherland lost to R. Bannister and N.’ Foreman; R. Lawrence and L. Speedy lost to A. McGregor and R. McKinstry; S. Chapman and H. Cameron beat N. Atkinson and F. C. Cotter; M. Schofield and A. Kaisley lost to F. Cotter and R. Vennell.
Ladies' singles: Mrs Charles was defeated by Mrs Nitz; Miss E. Sutherland was defeated by Mrs Foreman; Miss B. Sutherland lost to Miss P. Schofield; and Mrs Schofield lost to Mrs A. McGregor. Men’s singles: J. Pike beat H .Paku; I. Charles arid E. Nitz were all square; L. Seivers lost to M. Paku; R. Cundy defeated I. McGregor; W. Cameron beat R. Bannister; A. Sutherland lost to N. Foreman; R. Lawrence beat J. Read; L. Speedy lost to R. McKinstry; S. Chapman beat N. Atkinson; H. Cameron beat F. C. Cotter; M. Schofield defeated F. Cotter; and A. Kaisley and R. Vennell were all square. On Saturday next the annual match with the Stronvar Club will be played on the Wainui-o-ru links. WOMEN’S DIVISION ANNUAL DANCE. At a meeting of ladies held recently in connection with the annual dance for the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers' Union funds it was decided that the dance take place in the local hall on Saturday. July 29. This function is held each year and the support it receives on every occasion fully justifies the effort, the object being a most deserving one. To remind those who wish to patronise the dance details will be advertised later.
