SOAP BOX DERBY

FUN ON LANSDOWNE HILL. Careering down the Lansdowne Hill on Saturday afternoon in their soap box "cars,” members of the Mo Katoa Scout Troop had a taste of the thrills associated with this pastime. Twenty competitors took part, the contests being decided in heats in each of which there were two participants: The result of the Derby was: Ron Butler 1, John Kerslake 2. The award for the most streamlined soap box was given to Warren Permain. Quite a number of spectators were interested in the proceedings.
