CENTENNIAL EXHIBITION

MATTERS TO BE CONSIDERED BY WAIRARAPA AREA.

FIXING OF CELEBRATION DATES.

The fixing of definite dates for centennial celebrations in the Wairarapa so as to avoid any clashing, the selection of photographs adequately descriptive of the district for hanging in the Towers of Knowledge and a decision in respect to an animated model typical of industry in the Wairarapa area are matters that will be considered at a meeting of Wairarapa Zones in connection with the forthcoming Centennial Exhibition. The Mayor of Masterton, Mr T. Jordan, said this morning that he intended to call the meeting in the first week of August. The co-operation of all local bodies is sought in the collection of pictorial representations of the various parts of the district. There is no limit to the number of photographs and it is desired to have all areas of the province well represented. The executive of the Dominion Court is desirous that the Wairarapa area should include an animated model. Two models had suggested themselves, a freezing works or a wool shed, but as there would be two other freezing works models in the Dominion Court a shearing shed was put forward as probably being the most suitable for the Wairarapa. It is imperative that an early decision is made respecting the model so that the contractors can proceed with the work. Following on the protest made by Mr Jordan against the decision of the committee to include Masterton as a transparency in the model town section rather than as an actual model. Mr Jordan has been advised by Mr Pattrick, chairman of the Wellington Provincial Executive, that Mr Muston, the Dominion Court architect would discuss the matter with him.
