Sergeant R. J. F. Whiting, of Wanganui. has arrived in Pahiatua to take charge of the Pahiatua Police sub-dis-trict.
The death occurred at Wellington on Saturday of Mr H. A. Bick of Pahiatua. who was secretary of the Manchester Unity Odd Fellows Lodge in that town.
Dr W. I. Cawkwell, Auckland, will leave Wellington this week for London to undertake post-graduate medical studies.
Mr Vryn Evans, formerly of the Wellington Technical College staff and headmaster of the Motueka District High School for the past two years and a half, has been appointed principal of the Waihi High School.
The death occurred at Timaru yesterday of Mr Jack O’Leary, a former resident of Masterton. and a son of the late Mr and Mrs Humphrey O’Leary Many .years ago Mr J. O’Leary left Masterton to reside at Timaru. In his playing days he represented Wairarapa and South Canterbury at football. He leaves a widow and three grown-up daughters as well as two brothers i Messrs Joe O'Leary, of Masterton. and H. J. O'Leary, of Wellington) and four sisters (Mesdames Peters. Masterton, Ascott. Wanganui. McKenna, Ashliurst, and Brophy. Palmerston North.
