A 15-ton consolidated patrol bomber took ofl at 7.33 a.m. for Botwood (Newfoundland) on the first stage of an Atlantic flight to Felixstowe (England ). The bomber, which a cablegram from New York the other day stated had been secretly ordered by the British Ministry, has a range of 4000 miles. If it passes vigorous Royal Air Force tests a large order will be placed in the United States or the machines will be produced in England under licence. The plane is vaulting the Continent from San Diego to Botwood,' a distance of 3000 miles, and after refuelling it will fly the Atlantic.
