PARLIAMENT ABOLISHED
NEW ORDER IN SYRIA.
FULL CONTROL ASSUMED ■ BY FRANCE.
By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. (Received This Day, 9.45 a.m.) DAMASCUS, July 9.
The Syrian Parliament, the last vestige of a united and independent Syria, vanished today when France took over full control of the Levantine State, after endeavouring for live months to reconcile the Nationalist party to the principle of partial independence.
A High Commissioner. M. Puaux, has replaced Parliament and the Council of Directors is directly answerable to him. Troops stood by, but the new order was received calmly.
