ONLY SIX MEN WANTED
TERRITORIAL FORCES ALMOST AT FULL STRENGTH.’ ENLISTMENTS SINCE JUNE 3. Since June 3, sixty-three recruits have enlisted in the Territorial forces in Masterton. One pleasing feature of the enlistments is that medical standard of the man has been very high, as only two out of the 63 have been rejected, in both cases due to defective eyesight. Only another six men are required in Masterton to fill the light automatic and rifle platoons and these are practically in sight. The mounted rifles, machine gun platoon and transport sections are all filled. The authorities are still willing to receive enlistments from the right type of men with horses for the mounted rifles, as transfers etc., are constantly taking place and vacancies have to be filled. The Woodville quota has already been filled, though men are still enlisting freely at that centre.
