ROAD RECONSTRUCTION

CARRYALL SCRAPER FOR TAUERU JOB. .‘X carryall scraper of Syds, capacity, for use on road reconstruction work at Taueru, passed through Masterton this morning. It is one of a type of machine used by- the Public Works Department on aerodrome work and has recently been engaged in road reconstruction between Eketahuna and Alfredton. This machine, which is drawn by a tractor, is capable of handling between 500 and 600 yards of soil per day, depending, of course, upon the nature of the material and the distance to be travelled. It excavates the material and carries it away to the desired place for depositing. The reconstruction at Taueru, where a deviation is being put in at the back of the school, entails considerable excavation work and the carryall scraper will be utilised for this purpose.
