WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

SOLWAY-MANAIA MEETING. (“Tifnes-Age” Special.) A meeting of the Solway-Manaia Women’s Institute was held on Thursday. Mrs S. Munn, president, welcomed the members and visitors. Apologies for absence were received from Miss Allan, Mesdames Groombridge, Sims, Lahore, Copp and Hiddlestone. A dainty afternoon tea was partaken of and was following by a demonstration on artificial flowers. The competition held resulted as follow's: —Wool rug: Mrs Munn, 2; Miss Allan 2. Rag Rug, Mrs Cornick, 1. Flowers (2 classes), Mrs Reynolds, 1; Mrs Webber 2; Mrs Munn 1, Mrs Nicholls 2. Eread, Mrs Webber, 1; Mrs Munn, 2. Biscuits, Mrs Woollet, 1; Mrs Webber, 2. The Institute’s birthday celebrations will be held on August 3. The Garden Circle will hold a meeting at Mrs Munn’s resident when the competitions to be held will be for shoulder sprays, and the best blooms.
