WOMEN’S DIVISION
MASTERTON BRANCH. MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the Masterton Branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, Mrs Ken Groves presided over a good attendance of members. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Barrer, Jackson and McLean. A lengthy discussion took place in regard to the remits to be considered by the Dominion Conference in Wellington next week. / The president suggested that a register of those members willing to act in various capacities in case of emergency be compiled and with this view they be requested to phone her (No. 456 R, Masterton rural). The recent increase in rural telephone rentals was freely discussed, and a remit on the subject was forwarded for consideration of the Dominion Conference. It was pointed out the rentals now demanded were so exhorbitant that many rural subscribers were compelled to disconnect their phones. Other matters of interest to the Division were brought before the meeting and dealt with.
