EKETAHUNA

OLD BOYS’ CLUB APPOINTMENT OF OFFICIALS. (“Times-Age” Special.) At a special meeting of the Eketahuna Old Boys' Football Club steps were taken to appoint several officers to the club owing to departures from the district of the present officers. The position of secretary to the club, which was left vacant owing to the departure from the district of Mr O. Reynolds, was filled by the appointment of Mr H. Steer. Mr D. Fallaver was appointed as the club's delegate to the Union and also as a member of the management committee of the Bush Rugby Union to fill the vacancy caused by the departure of Mr O. Stone. Messrs R. Fauvel and D. Butcher were appointed as trustees of the club. Various members of the club spoke in complimentary terms to the enthusiasm which Mr O. Reynolds had put into his work as secretary of the club and it was decided that a social evening be tendered to him on Saturday, July 15.

MINIATURE RIFLES OFFICIAL OPENING OF CLUB. There was a good attendance at the official opening of the reconstructed Eketahuna Miniature Rifles. Mr W. Hornblow, a former resident of Masterton, and president of the club, referred to the past operations of the club which had been in recess for about five years. He expressed thanks to Mr W. G. Macky (County Engineer) for the help he had given in arranging for material for the building of the range. Thanks were also due to Mr S. Daniel and the many others who had giver, their time and labour in erecting the range. He then called on the Mayor, Mr W. Simpson, to officially open the club. Mr Simpson, in declaring the season open, expressed the hope that the club would have a good season and that in view of the present world outlook the youth of the town would take a keen interest in the essential practice ol rifle shooting. The following were the best scores, with 70 as the possible:—Messrs Sigvertsen, 67; Dawson. G 6; 11. Price, F. Sigvertsen, F. Robinson, M. Clarkson. 65; R. Hclford. W. Hornblow, 64: M Hansen. H. Leslie. H. Walton, 62; T. Kewley, H. Nielsen, W. N. Richardson. 61; A. Hansen. 60. GOLF COMPETITION SOUTHEY CUP DRAW. The following is the draw for the first of three bogey rounds for the Southey Cup, to be played during the weekend: — Mrs Henderson v. Miss Dickson: Miss P. O’Regan v. Miss Boyes; Mrs Dickson v. Mrs Reed; Miss Carrick v. Mrs Anderson; Miss Greathead v. Miss Angus; Miss A. Simmers v. Mrs Mcßride; Miss E. O'Donnell v. Miss E. Simmers; Miss Andersen v. Miss H. Fraser; Miss Herbert v. Mrs Berney; Mrs Conner a bye. The best cards handed in for the last competition were: Miss A. Simmers, 351 points; Miss Angus. 361.
