Mrs Hall, Alfredton, is staying with, her daughter, M.s L. McKenna. ■ Mr Les.- Smith has disposed of his dairy farm at Pahautea, and together with Mrs Smith will leave the district shortly. Mr and Mrs Muir arc the guests of Mrs Harvey, Mangatete. Mr G. Ingley, Morison’s Bush, is the guest of Mr and Mrs Hodder, “Lake View.” Extra Racing Day Refused. The New Zealand Racing Conference yesterday refused an application by the Wairarapa Racing Club for an extra day’s racing.

SUNDAY CONCERT MASTERTON SILVER BAND, In aid of the Masterion Municipal Silver Band’s uniform fund, a big variety programme will be presented at the Featherston Town Hall on Sunday by the band. Particularly talented artists will present a programme worthy of a professional company. Among the many and varied numbers are “Zara” (conjurer and illusionist), Jim Blake (wizard of the piano-accor-dion), Miss Betty Smith (elocutionist), Mr D. Tagg (violinist, accompanied by Miss J. Taggß Miss Hazel Locke (tap dancer), Mr F. Price (sketches),’ Leo Chung (Chinese tenor), Sid Durrand and his dog Teddy, the Graham Twins (tap duo), and the Blue River Dance Band. This is a programme that will provide outstanding entertainment. The programme will commence at 8 p.m. Admission will be by silver coin.
