GOLF CARDS TEAMS TO PLAY CARTERTON. (“Times-Age” Special.) The best cards handed in after a four-ball bogey handicap played on Saturday were: —W. G. Martin and D. J. Flynn 4 up; M. H. Perry and W. G. McLeod, J. D. McDougall. G. L. Sievers, K. D. Arthur. Cars will leave the Post Office at 12.45 p.m. Anyone unable to play is asked to notify the secretary' before Friday. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE FANCY DRESS PARTY. . The Dycrville Hall presented a gay scene last Friday evening when the Women’s Institute held a fancy dress party for children and adults. The judge, Mrs S. Chapman, had a most difficult task in making her awards. The prizes were won as follows: — Girls over ten: Eunice Bain, Victorian Lady; Molly McGillicuddy, Dutch Girl. Boys over ten: Peter Jamieson, Aunt Daisy; Gordon Jamieson, Safety First. Girls under ten: Fay Garrity, Calf Meal; Maureen O’Keefe, Queen of Hearts.’ Boys under ten: J. Higginson, Jockey; Brian Wrigley, Cook. Judge’s special prize: Russell Garrity (All Black). Balloons, paper hats, sweets and surprises kept the children happy through their games and dances. After supper the adults took the floor for dancing. The adult prizes went to Miss T. Old, “Nursery Rhymes’’/'(ladies), and the “Lone Ranger” (men). Music was supplied by Mrs R. Soughtton, Miss K. Smith and Miss Pryor (piano accordion). Items were given during the evening by Miss M. Warren (song), Miss D. Malton (tap dances and jigs), and Peter Jamieson (humorous recitation). The gathering was very enjoyable. Personal Items. Mr R. Donald was the guest of honour at a dinner given by a number of his friends last evening in honour of his approaching marriage. Miss Grace Anderson, of the office staff of the W.F.C.A., Masterton, is visiting her parents before leaving on her annual holiday.
