SHOT DOWN BV POLES AFTER WARNING SHOT FLIGHT OVER FORTIFICATIONS ALLEGED. OCCUPANTS OF MACHINE RESCUED BY SHIP. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. WARSAW. June 28. After firing a warning shot, Polish coastal artillery shot down a German military aeroplane allegedly flying over fortifications opposite Ihe port of Gdynia. The plane fell into the sea and sent out an SOS message. A passing German merchant ship picked up the occupants. The Air Ministry in Berlin refused to give details of the incident. NOT SHOT DOWN SAFE LANDING MADE. (Received This Day. 9.25 a.m.) BERLIN. June 23. It is denied that a German military plane was shot down by Polish coastal artillery near Gdynia. It is stated that the pitot heard firing, but did not know whether this was a warning or practice shooting and landed safely.
