In a last-minute poll held on today’s fight between Joe Louis and Tony Galen to, while 47 per cent of the persons polled expressed a desire to have GaL ento win, only 10 per cent expressed the belief that he might, and the concensus of opinion among sports writers is that, while the unexpected may happen, the fight will probably last less than five rounds for Galento but should be interesting, nevertheless. It seems indicated that few recent heavyweight championship bouts have aroused so much attention. Galento finished training only today, continuing to box and do road work up to the last minute. Louis rested. Both gave the New York -‘Times” pre-fight statements. each predicting a knock-out victory for, himself though declining to mention in what round. Louis said. “I’ll take no chances. I’ll try to win just as quickly and decisively as I can.” Galento said, “The first good punch I hit him will put him on the floor. Then I- will finish him.”
