TABLE TENNIS
WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION ACTIVITIES. REPRESENTATIVE AND OTHER CONTESTS. At a meeting of the committee of the Wairarapa Table Tennis Association held last night Messrs M. Winslade and W. Day, who as delegates to the New Zealand Association, attended the annual meeting held in Wellington on Saturday, reported on that meeting, a full account of which will be forwarded to the Association later. Tentative dates were arranged for the following representative games: — Wanganui, at Wanganui,* Saturday, July 1; Manawatu, at Masterton, Saturday, July 8; Hutt Valley, at Masterton, Saturday, August 12. These dates are subject to confirmation. Permission was given to the Winter Sports Club to play a friendly match with St Ronan’s Club of Lower Hutt, and to the Parkvale Club to play the Empire Club, also of Lower Hutt. Comment was made on the good relationship that was apparent between clubs in the Wairarapa and Hutt Valley. In view of the forthcoming representative fixtures, clubs were invited to send selected players for a try-out at the Dixon Street Hall on Monday night, June 26. Regarding social fixtures, clubs were urged to publish the results of these gatherings as soon as possible. The committee arranged for the inter-club championship matches to commence on Monday. July 3. The draw for the first round will be published early next month.
