FEATHERSTON

RED CROSS SOCIETY MEETING OF SUB-BRANCH. ("Times-Age" Special.) A meeting of the Featherston subbranch of the Red Cross Society was held in the Odd Fellows’ Hall last night. Mrs Bloxam presided over a good attendance of members. The resignations of Mrs Q. Donald (president), Mrs H. R. Bloxam (deputychairwoman), and Mrs McKenzie (secretary) were received and accepted. The following officers were appointed:—President, Mrs Sharp; vicepresidents, ' Miss Card, Mesdames Carlyon, and R. W. Matthews; secretary and treasurer, Mrs J. E. Willett; home nursing and first aid committee, Mesdames Sharp. Barker, H. Clark and Messrs Willett and Clark; publicity committee, Misses Smith, I. Jensen, Browne and Bergh; social committee, Misses F. Donald and Bloxam, Mesdames Bergh. McKenzie, Raper and Sharp; emergency committee, Mesdames Sharp, Willett and Bloxham; management committee, Mesdames Sharp, Willett, Carlyon, R. W. Matthews, McKenzie, Bloxam, H. Clark and Misses Card and H. Bergh. It was decided to hold first aid classes every Wednesday night. A lecture was given by Mrs W. Barker and' a demonstration by Mr H. Clark. Personal. Mr W. Nix, who underwent an operation to one of his legs a few weeks ago in the Lewisham Hospital, Wellington, is reported to be making satisfactory progress towards recovery.
