WEEK END SPORT GOLF AND FOOTBALL. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following are the results of the third medal round played during the weekend by members of the local golf club:—Satherly,- score 100, handicap 26, total 74; McGregor, 87-7-80; Cowper, 91-10-81; Robertson, 104-22-82; Theed, 91-9-82; Mayman, 104-17-87; Eunson, 103-14-89; Reid, 113-24-89. Match Against Makuri. A match has been arranged for next weekend between the local club and the Makuri Club. The following players will represent • Pongaroa:—Messrs McGregor, Theed, Cowper, Donovan, Eunson, Meech, Mayman, Herbert, Robertson, Reid. Satherly and Campbell; Mesdames Cowper, Scott, Theed, Herbert. Eunson and Satherly. Football Matches. At Waione, Pukehinau defeated Coast by 15 points to 3. For the winners tries were scored by Urquhart (2). Hartgill (2) and L. Bowie. Coast’s score came from a penalty goal kicked from half-way by the full-back, I. Hay. Playing on their home ground, Tiraumea were unable to avenge their former defeat by Pongaroa, and after a very close game Pongaroa emerged the winners by 6 points to 5. The visitors scored their six points in the first spell, a try by Eagle and a penalty goal by Peters. After half-time, Tiraumea struggled hard to even the game, Herbert scoring a try which he converted. Despite Laing's repeated attempts to score the final, whistle blew, leaving Pongaroa the victors. Mr D. McDonald controlled the game. The following four players have been drawn from the Puketoi Subunion to play in the Bush team in their match against Marlborough at Pahiatua: I. Hay, G. Laing. R. Newland and W. Thomas. Ladies’ Hockey. Coast defeated Pongaroa by 3 goals to 1 on Saturday. Personal Items. Mrs E. E. McDonald is on a visit to Auckland. Misses P. Pickett and G. Harman, of Tiraumea, have left on a holiday to be spent in the north. Miss Ivy Berry, of Mangaweka, is a visitor to Pongaroa.
