MRS L. PEARSON
FAREWELL GATHERINGS. Last night at the home of Mrs J. R. Donovan, Opaki, a large number of friends gathered to farewell Mrs L. Pearson. Cards were played, the winners being Mrs K. Cooper (first) and Mrs J. R. Donovan (second), the consolation prize going to Mrs Davis-Goff. After supper Mrs Donovan presented Mrs Pearson with a reading lamp, and expressed the regret of Mrs Pearson’s friends at her departure from Masterton, wishing, her every happiness and prosperity in her new home at Epsom, Auckland. Mrs Donovan also handed to Mrs Pearson a pretty posy of red carnations arid pentstemons made by Mrs G. Dagg. Mrs Pearson suitably acknowledged the honour done her. Mrs Peter Cooper and Mrs Braggins also held parties to farewell Mrs Pearson, the former’s gathering taking place in the oak room at Messrs Hugo and Shearer’s premises, and the latter at Mrs Braggins’s home in Bannister Street. An enjoyable time was spent on each occasion.
