METHODIST CHURCH

LADIES’ GUILD MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Methodist Ladies’ Social Guild was held yesterday at the Methodist Children’s Home, Herbert Street, the hostesses being Miss Allen, Mesdames Hendry and Madsen. Mrs F. J. Parker presided over a good attendance of members. An apology for absence was received from Mrs Lindsey. The Rev F. J. Parker made an appeal for collectors on behalf of the British and Foreign Bible Society. Arrangements were finalised for the congregational social to be held on June 28. It was decided that the first half of the programme should be devoted to- Progressive Games, and that the Young Men’s Bible Class should be approached and asked to provide items for the second half of the programme. Acknowledgements of donations from the Guild of £l5 to the Missionary Auxiliary and £lO to the Trustees were received. The next Guild meeting is to be held at the residence of Mrs F. J. Parker, and is to. take the form of a “Bring and Buy” afternoon conducted by Mesdames Judd and Neilson. During the afternoon; solos were rendered by Mrs N. H. Prior, and a duet was sung by Mrs Speight and Miss V. Jackson. Mrs Parker expressed to Miss Allen appreciation of her kindness in entertaining the Guild at the Home. The pronouncing of the benediction brought the meeting to a close.
