HARRIER ACTIVITIES
MASTERTON CLUB. (Notes by “Idle Along.”) At the Dannevirke rally last Saturday the club had a great chance to win the Anderson Shield. Alter the great performances put up by W. Pullar and G. Gregory, who beat the field of over sixty starters by over 500 yards, it was disappointing to find that the team
only finished in third position. C. Wright and R. Shaw ran below form. This is hard to account for as both members have been in serious training for the past few weeks. In the B team, G. Wickens ran a solid race and finished in a good position considering this is his first race in open company on a strange course. J. Baikie finished gamely to make the team points in club’s favour against Napier. C. K. Long was a non-starter but it is stated that he is saving himself for the Benson Trophy Race on Saturday week.
The runners who did not make the trip enjoyed a training run. H. Carle is showing glimpses of the old form. R. Gully and C. Carle are also striking form and will have to be reckoned with soon in races.
