PALMERSTON N„ Juhe 14. ‘ Displaying superior positional play, Manawatu beat Wellington, 5-2, in a hockey match for the Cliffe Shield at the Winter Show today. The ground was sodden after recent rains, affecting both the standard and the style of play, and leaking the short-passing game impracticable. Roberts and Brown scored for Wellington, and Lawry (2), O'Brien arid R. Hoare (2) for Manawatu. TEAMS FOR SATURDAY. Wesley B to play Dalefield at Carterton at 2.45 p.m. Cars will leave the W.F.C.A. Yard at 1.30 p.m.: G. Stevenson, G. McCormack, R. Thornton, E. Burton, F. Ford, F. Aydon, R. Elliott, M. Easthope, D. Perrin, T. Hicks, Alex Smith. (A. Smith emergency).
