INDOOR BASKETBALL
MASTERTON MEN’S SECTION. FINAL WON BY PIRATES. The final matches of the men’s section of the Indoor Basketball competition were played in the Y.M.C.A. last night. Reliance A and Pirates met in a keen and exciting match. Pirates played well as a team, and after a great game won by 10 goals to 7. The results of last night’s games are as follow:— Ladies: Rovers 38 beat C. Smiths 10; W.F.C.A. won by default from United; Lancers 30 beat Y.M.C.A. 14; Hugo and Shearers won by default from McDuffs. Men: Y.M.C.A. 21 drew- with W.F.C.A. 21; Reliance B won by default from Old Boys; Pirates 10 beat Reliance A 7; Borthwicks won by default from Loan and Mercantile. The position of the teams in the men’s section is as follow:—Pirates, 14 points; Reliance A, 12; Y.M.C.A.. 8; Old Boys, 6; Borthwicks, 6; Reliance B. 6; Loan and Mercantile. 2. The final games of the first round in the ladies’ competition will be played next week.
