LEAGUE OF MOTHERS ADDRESS BY MRS ROLLINGS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Greytown League of Mother’s took place in the Parish Hall. There was only a fair attendance owing to the wet day. Mrs Bull presided, and Mrs Knell acted as secretary, in the absence of Mrs Wiggins. Mrs Johnson asked that the good work the late Mrs Slater had done as secretary should be put on record, and this was decided on. Several apologies for absence were received. Mrs Rollings, of Ngaio, and Mrs Millward, of Petone, journeyed to Greytown to attend the meeting. Mrs Millward sang several songs which were very much appreciated. The Glee Choir rendered two glees. Mrs Rollings gave a most instructive address on “The Little Palace Beautiful.” She explained at first how the palace was comprised of four rooms, in which children of imagination and reality lived. In those children, curiosity and imagination wire the chief factors. Mrs Rollings gave quotations emphasize her address. All those children whoever came in contact with Mrs Rollings would always remember her teachings and good advice. Mrs Rollings was accorded a hearty vote of thanks on the motion of Mrs Lull and presented with a beautiful spray of violets. Mrs Millward received a shoulder spray of stocks. During the afternoon Mrs Rollings held an admission service. Mesdames Sbedden, Kidd and Miss Tate were admitted. The hostesses were Mesdames Jewell, Lyford, Duff, A. Haigh, assisted by Mrs Te Whaiti. The singing of the National Anthem closed the meeting. MINIATURE RIFLES TEAM TO MEET CARTERTON. The Greytown miniature rifle team to shoot against Carterton at Carterton tonight is as follows (cars will leave at 7.30 o’clock): —G. Rhodes, B. Rhodes, R. Ingley, R. Te Whaiti, Miss J. Morgan, Miss G. Gray, Miss D. Roband, Miss C. Gray, H. Gray, J. Yeoman, W. Fuge, Miss L. Gray, Miss A. Gray, Mrs Parker, I. Te Whaiti, R. Hood. SCHOOL COMMITTEE MONTHLY MEETING. . The monthly meeting of the Greytown District High School Committee was held last night. ••Members present were: Messrs H. G. Carter (chairman), F. Dennes (treasurer), J. Herod, H. Bassett and Mrs Knell (secretary). Mr S. Shedden (headmaster) was also present. The headmaster’s report stated that the number on the roll was 301. This was the highest for some years. The Wellington Education Board forwarded vouchers giving authority for several repairs to be carried out and new cupboards to be provided. Advice was received that the Board could hot agree to the committee’s request for an emergency exit in the long corridor. Accounts passed for payment amounted 1o £2O. The dental nurse’s report for May as follows was received: —New entrants to clinic, 6; revisions, 84; total operations, 294. The clinic was closed for the holidays from May 5 to May 22. COURT SITTING WATER THROWN AT CAR. At the Greytown Magistrate's Court this morning Noel Dickens and Harold Dickens were charged with throwing water at a passing motor-car on the Woodside Road on "April 10 and with damaging the dress of Mrs Heap, of Wellington, one of the occupants of the car. Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., presided. Noel Dickens was fined £1 and Harold Dickens £2 on the major charge and each was fined 10s and costs on the other charge. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs E. Evans, of Battersea, left today for a holiday to be spent at Otaki and Palmerston North. The death occurred at Greytown yesterday of Mrs Thelma Flora Ada Shrimpton. The late Mrs Shrimpton' was the only daughter of Mrs Oakey Senr., and sister of Dr. Oakey, Greytown. The late Mrs Shrimpton had been in indifferent health for some considerable .time.
