BOROUGH AFFAIRS

MEETING OF MARTINBOROUGH COUNCIL. REQUESTS FROM SOCIETIES FOR DONATIONS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Martinborough Borough Council was held last night. Those present were the Mayor (Mr C. W. Skill) and Councillors M. A. Hardie, G. P. Cotter, P. R. Plummer, T. A. Hamilton and M. Mulvaney. A request for donations towards funds was received from the Plunket Society, the Wairarapa and Ruahine Aero Club, and the New Zealand Crippled Children’s Society (Wairarapa branch). The latter society was granted £1 but nothing was granted the other two bodies. It was decided to increase the insurance on the library books by £lOO, and that on the building by £2OO. The ranger reported having impounded 20 head of stock and registered 73 dogs.
