DONALD CUP CONTEST WIN FOR LOCAL TEAM. (“Times-Age” Special.) The second Donald Cup match of the season was played on the local links against the Tyneside Club over the weekend, in fine but cold weather, when the home side had a decisive win over the visitors by 27 games to 5, 3 games being all square. In the ladies’ fourball Te Wharau won all the 5 games, and in the men's fourball Te Wharau won seven games and Tyneside one game. In the ladies’ singles Te Wharau won 6 games, lost one and one game was halved. In the men’s singles two games were halved, Te Wharau won 9 and Tyneside won three games. The following are the results, the Tyneside players are mentioned first in each instance: —

Ladies’ fourball: Miss E. Wood and Miss Dixon lost to Mrs Nitz and Miss P. Schofield; Miss Burrows and Miss Bartholomew lost to Misses M. and N. Taylor; Mrs Whyte and Mrs Dickel lost to Mrs Schofield and Mrs Foreman; Mrs Sykes and Mrs Larsen lost to Mrs I. McGregor and Mrs J. Bannister; Miss Ross and Miss McGregor lost to Mrs A. McGregor and Mrs McKinstry. Men’s fourball: O. Williams and O. Sykes lost to H. Paku and E. Nitz; R. Costello and W. Bannister lost to M. Paku and N. Kummer; J. Armstrong and E. Williams beat W. Kummer and R. Bannister; J. Ross and I. Talbot lost to I. McGregor and S. Gray; F. Whyte and G. Dickel lost to N. Foreman and P. G. Ashworth; C. Larsen and I. MacRae lost to J. Bannister and A. The second round of the Stableford competition for the season was played on Saturday afternoon, Mrs McKinstry handing in a 39 won for the ladies, while F. McKinstry with 44 topped the men. M. Paku defeated F. Cotter Junr. in a Nimmo Cup match and Miss McGregor defeated Miss Buckeridge in a Kummerstein Cup challenge. Next playing day is Saturday, June 17, when’the fourth round for the trophies will be played. The draw will be posted in the clubhouse.
