FALL FROM TRAIN

WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, June 11. Serious injuries were suffered by Mrs A. M. Drake, 10 Brooklyn Terrace, Wellington, when she fell from the Wellington-New Plymouth express, a mile south of Nukumaru, on Saturday afternoon. The guard of the train was informed of the accident and the train backed half a mile to pick up Mrs Drake, who was taken to Patea, about 20 miles nearer New Plymouth. She was then taken to the Patea Hospital, suffering from a badly crushed foot, severe bruises and shock. Her condition late last night was still serious. Mrs Drake was accompanied by her son, Mr P. Drake. Mr D. N. McLean. Mangatainoka, gave her first aid. The express was delayed 12 minutes.
