WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

MEETING AT KOPUARANGA. ("Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Kopuaranga Women's Institute was held in the Hall on Thursday, Mrs Wright presiding over a small attendance. The result of last season’s potato competition was: Mrs S. J. Clarke, 48 lbs., 1; Mrs Kenny, 431b5., 2; Miss Kenny, 381b5., 3. Miss M. Kenny’s resignation was received with regret. It was decided to hold a “Bring and Buy” stall at the August meeting. The roll call, “Knitting Hints,” was answered by all present. A prize for a rag mat, donated by Mrs S. J. Clarke, was won by Mrs E. J. Wright. -Mrs Wright has offered a prize for a mat to be judged at the November meeting. An interesting “Gardening Talk” by Mrs Kenny was much appreciated. The results of the monthly competitions were as follow: —White bread: Seniors, Mrs Kenny, 1; Mrs W. J. Cottle, 2. Juniors: D. Kenny, 1. Tea towel: Miss M. Wright, 1; Mrs Jarrett, 2; Mrs Wright, 3. Best bloom: Mrs Reside, 1; Mrs Kenny, 2; Mrs Wright, 3. Picture guessing: Mrs Clarke, 1: Mrs Jarrett, 2; Mrs Kenny, 3. Tea towel: Junior, Miss D. Kenny, 1. The singing of the National Anthem brought the afternoon to a close.
