TRUST CHAIRMAN
MR. H. P. HUGO RE-ELECTED. Mr. H. P. Hugo was re-elected chairman of the Trust Lands Trust at last night’s meeting. “Last year,” said Mr. H. H. Daniell, “I objected to the chairmanship going round and on that occasion I would have been prepared to vote against Mr. Hugo if anybody else had stood. This year, while I am still of the same opinion, that the chairmanship should not go round as rapidly as it has in the past I propose that Mr Hugo be reelected chairman for the coming year.” Mr. C. E. Grey seconded the motion. Both Mr. R. Krahagen and Mr. Grey, who were proposed for the chairmanship by Mr Eton, declined to accept nomination. In suggesting these names Mr. Eton said it was a good many years since Mr. Krahagen had held the position. Referring to Mr. Grey, Mr. Eton said he hoped to see him occupy the chairmanship at some period. Having expressed his views on the matter and as these members refused nomination, he would now support Mr. Hugo.
No other nominations were forthcoming and Mr. Hugo was re-elected, unopposed. In returning thanks to the trustees for his re-election, Mr. Hugo expressed his appreciation of the very able support Trustees had given him during his last term of office. He extended a welcome to Mr. R. Page, who had been elected to the board in place of Mr. W. H. Jackson, and expressed his belief that Mr. Page would be a very useful member of the Trust. Mr. Hugo also congratulated the retiring Trustees. Messrs. Eton, Jones and Grey, on their re-election.
