WHIRLWIND FOLLOWS ' IN NEW PLYMOUTH. TWELVE INCHES OF RAIN IN FOUR DAYS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, June 8. Torrential rain in New Plymouth this morning was interrupted in the central part of the town by the passing of a whirlwind, which, however, did no damage. Stratford experienced a deluge at the same time and the railway yards were under water. In the last four days nearly 12 inches of rain has fallen on the northern slopes of Mount Egrnont.
