ATHLETIC MEETING
PAN-PACIFIC GATHERING. IN JAPAN SET DOWN FOR NEXT YEAR. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 9.45 a.m.) TOKIO, June 8. It is announced that a Pan-Pacific international athletic meeting will be held at Tokio in the autumn of 1940, after the Helsingfors Olympic games, under the auspices of the Japan Amateur Athletic Federation, which is inciting New Zealand, Australia. America, Canada, Mexico, South American Countries, the Philippines, Siam. Indo China, Manchukuo and the new China regimes to commemorate the 2600th anniversary of the founding of the Japanese Empire. The meeting will comprise all the Olympic contests, besides a transpacific yacht race. Japanese vessels will discount visitors’ fares by 50 per cent.
