READY MARKET FOR CATTLE. LITTLE CHANGE IN SHEEP. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A smaller yarding of cattle than usual was offered by Wright, Stephenson, and Co., Ltd. at the Johnsonville live stock sale, held yesterday. The bullocks comprised chiefly heavyweight cattle, with a few pens of light prime quality bullocks. Heavyweight bullocks met with good competition, /with prices showing no alteration, and mediumweight were easier by 5s to 10s a head. No prime heavyweight cows came forward, the yarding comprising chiefly prime me-dium-weight cows. All classes met with a ready sale, with prices slightly easier than those ruling last week. Extra good quality runners were offered, these meeting with good competition, prices firming on last week’s rates.

A large yarding of sheep came forward. No heavyweight wethers were offered, the yarding'comprising chiefly light and medium-weight sheep with a few pens of fine black-faced two-tooths. Good quality sheep met with a ready sale, prices showing no alteration. Unfinished wethers were hard to sell, prices showing a drop of Is to Is 6d on those ruling last week. The ewe penning comprised, chiefly, mediumweight ewes, with a few pens of heavyweight sheep. Extra prime heavy ewes met with keen competition, with prices slightly above those ruling last week, and unfinished ewes were on a par. No prime quality lambs came forward, th,e yarding consisting of unfinished lambs. Prices for all classes were on a par with upcountry rates. Quotations are: — Cattle: Prime extra heavy bullocks, £l4 to £l3 3s; prime heavy, £l2 17s Gd to £l2 7s Gd, heavy, £l2 5s to £ll 16s, light and unfinished, £lO 10s to £9 12s 6d; extra prime heavy cows and heifers, £8 to £7 ss, prime heavy £7 2s Gd to £6 15s, cows and heifers, £G 5s to £5 ss; extra heavy runners, £4 to £3 10s, runners £3 5s to £2 10s; vealers, £1 12s to 21s. Sheep: Prime extra heavy wethers, 21s 8d to 20s 9d, prime heavy 20s Gd to 19s Bd, medium 18s 4d to 15s; prime extra heavy ewes, 17s 3d to 15s 3d, prime heavy, 14s lOd to 13s 7d, medium, 12s Gd to 8s 7d; hoggets, 20s 9d to 15s 6d.
