GOLF TOURNEY
WAIRARAPA CHAMPIONSHIP CONTEST J. P HORNABROOK DEFEATS TITLE HOLDER. TUSSLE IN QUARTER-FINALS. Sixteen of the eighty odd competitors qualified for the Wairarapa golf championship which is at present taking place on the Masterton Club’s links. On Saturday the qualifying round was completed and yesterday the quarter-finals were commenced. Considerable interest was shown in the match between T. H. Horton, the defending champion, and J. P. Hornabrook, a strong contender. At the eighteenth hole the score stood all square but on the next hole Horton just missed with a long putt and Hornabrook was the winner.
