Mr Winston Churchill, speaking at Wanstead, referred to the disputed Czech gold and declared that no bank should pay over the assets of a cruelly kidnapped customer in order to strengthen the bankrupt aggressor’s armaments. It would injure the banking system and threaten the whole credit of civilisation.
